For the past 53 years, Mike Pirrone Produce has been the largest marketer of Michigan Hothouse & Outdoor Rhubarb.
Rhubarb comes in two varieties: Outdoor Field (which is grown from May to August), and Michigan Hothouse (grown from January to May). The primary
difference between the two types is that Hothouse Rhubarb is grown in dark root houses to maintain a dark color and limit leaf development (since
it is only the stalk of the rhubarb plant that is edible).
